As a fan of motorsports, the last round of Formula Drift is something I am looking forward to. On October 11, 2014 the final round of Formula Drift will race down Irwindale Speedway and this year’s champion will be crowned. From the burning tires to the inevitable breakdowns, I find it all exciting, which brings me to the following thought – how do the mechanics fix those cars so fast? I can only imagine how organized their tool chests and mobile garages must be.
Have you ever been in the situation where you needed a tool to fix something around the house but you had no idea where it was? Imagine if you had a plumbing leak. If it took you three hours to find your tools, you would have your own personal private lake inside your house. A private lake sounds nice, but not when it’s inside your house.
I started to look into the best tool chests on the market to find which one would work best in my garage or any other custom garage, and here’s what I found.
The first style I came across was a mobile workbench drawer tool chest. These chests are for people who have smaller garages, but who want to have a workspace. If you like to have to have your tools close by while working on a project (like rebuilding a house lamp), this type of tool chest would be the best fit for you. You can store it wherever you want, and have the tools you need neatly organized and ready by your side.
The second style I found was a roll-away drawer tool chest. These are convenient when you need space to put your tools away in your garage without having to commit to an area of the garage permanently. So, you will always be able to move it to another location in the garage if needed to.
I also found another a style that would work great in any garage. It’s a non-mobile drawer chest. However, these tool chests are stored in a permanent location, which means that you may lose some space permanently, but you’ll gain space in the sense that you can purchase a tool chest that has a number of drawers for all of your tools.
For larger tools, there are also heavy-duty canopy tool chests. These chests are used to store and organize any of the larger tools you have in your arsenal. They are non-mobile, but they will certainly help your garage stay organized.
Naturally, we also have to look at what Motor Trend Garage has to offer. With the ability to create custom garages, you can have your very own garage storage system designed specifically to cater to your needs and space. This is the most stylish of the options I found, and it maximizes the space you have available in your garage. Furthermore, if you already own a tool chest MTG can build around your chest to create the most optimal and efficient space from your garage by using slat walls for tools that are easier to store by hanging.
There you have it. As we all know, space can be the biggest factor in your organizational woes, but with the right storage solution – you can overcome them.
