Thanksgiving came with much fanfare and left us with the inevitable itis. Black Friday arrived with the typical hoopla surrounding it and thousands made off with ridiculous deals and hopefully zero injuries. The holiday season is in full swing and sometimes, it makes us all a little nuts. Whether you experience joy, glee, frustration, or good, old-fashioned anger – perhaps, all of the above at the same time – this holiday season, we found four great Hollywood car scenes to sum it all up to a tee.
1 – Shopping Frustration: The claustrophobic nature of the shopping during the holidays can be enough to make you lose your mind. You may not be on the lam, like Dan Akroyd and Jim Belushi, but wouldn’t it be nice to safely part the sea of consumers in a comfy sedan? You’re darn right it would. Our lady of blessed acceleration, don’t fail us now.
2 – Family First: The holidays bring families together. From far and wide, members of the clan come home to roost over the holiday season and if you’re anything like us, you’d do anything in your power to ensure their happiness and safety. You may even, say, venture out on a mission with your kin to find and cut down the perfect Christmas tree. And, if anybody tries to mess with your family, like Clark Griswald, you’ll show everyone who’s in complete control. Well, at least you’ll try to.
3 – Gratitude: There is just something about the holidays that makes us all feel a little more grateful than usual. Whether it’s the holiday music, lights or a few too many spicy eggnogs, ‘tis the season to be grateful and in this scene, Nicholas Cage is about to find out what matters most. Sure, the Ferarri would be nice, but it’s a minivan filled with a loving family that he can’t live without.
4 – Barely Made it Out Alive: Before you know it, the holiday season will have come and gone. Christmas lights will come down, wrapping paper will be recycled and leftovers will sustain the family for weeks. You didn’t think that you’d make it through the holiday shopping crowds, Uncle Buck’s tall tales or your mother in law’s cranberry sauce, but you did and this car scene with Steve Martin and the always-hilarious John Candy is for you.
The holiday season can be a stressful, anger-inducing occasion, but it’s about fun, friends and family, and the memories are always worth the hassle. From the Motor Trend Garage family to you and yours, we wish you the happiest and safest of holidays.
